Good day, LA!
So nice to wake up to a beautiful morning in a bed, with a view of downtown and the pool in which I will soon be.

It seems like yesterday that I posted my earlier day 5 entry. Although only 67 miles, today lasted forever with headwinds upwards of 35 mph. At very least, we all looked fantastic as today was the infamous red dress day - which even excited zola. Boas, glitter and little strappy numbers were plentiful as we made our way from Santa Maria to Lompoc via the Danish hamlet of Solvang. In Solvang we skipped the provided lunch and opted for amazing pizza. I was also forced by a solveng local to order an amazing slice of chocolate brownie mousse goodness.
After the town we braved headwinds for abound 3-4 hours as we slowly made our way through the Santa Barbara countryside. As always, rest stop 3 wowed us with their amazing Greek gods theme.
At the rest stop, Zola made a new friend in ET. Once all was said and done, I had a great chiropractic adjustment while Zola stretched on the rollers.
Onto day 6!

Gosh darn it's cold! Breakfast and coffee were good though. We ran into Sr. Jane, too. That said, we're ready for a beautiful day. It's been just fantastic and - pardon the cliche - inspirational. Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported me on this journey. You're truly helping me up those hills.
Ps. Even Zola enjoyed it - along with today's daily spin.

We're (sort of) in the home stretch. Managed not to get swept on a 96 mile day although we continue to manage to finish in the last 50-or so riders. But at least we're riding in and it's because we spend too much time enjoying the route. We passed the half way point after the evil twins, met team pink, witnessed great views, ate yummy cinnamon rolls and battled an ANGRY head wind. In for what will hopefully be a relaxing ride tomorrow. We hope to finally have a sleep in day.
On a side note: the property value in Santa Maria will never be the same.

Not as long as yesterday but unrelentingly hot with little tail wind. The "quadbuster" was definitely a challenge but I still managed to ride up the entire thing.
Highlights included rest stop 3 (as always), burgers at lunch in Bradley and riding through the beautiful Paso Robles wine country.

A 107 mile day from Santa Cruz to King City. We raced the caboose the entire way but largely because we really took our time to take in the beauty of the central coast and coast foothills.

I'm having dinner after surviving (& enjoying) day 1. Zola had a great time, too!

Registration is done. I have my wrist bands. Now the bag gets stuffed. A bon voyage bolognese is on the menu for tonight then an aided sleep until 4 am. Here we go!

Just your run of the mill native San Franciscan: Currently working the non-profit life, I occasionally do drag, I am active in my community and I'm generally curious about life, people and the effects of technology on both.
